Summary

On June 23-24, 2022, the leaders of the BRICS states (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) adopted the Beijing Declaration of the XIV Summit and reaffirmed their commitment to the balanced and comprehensive implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, emphasizing that “the international community should greater importance to development issues, revitalize global development partnerships and strive to achieve all the Sustainable Development Goals by mobilizing the necessary resources.”
Almost half of the world’s population lives in the BRICS countries, so the localization of the SDGs is the main lever for achieving global and national goals. The round table participants will discuss the prospects and existing mechanisms for interaction between BRICS partners to achieve the SDGs at the local level, including cooperation platforms:
– local and regional authorities (Municipal Forum),
– scientific organizations (Academic Forum),
– enterprises (Business Council and BRICS Innovation Center),
– civil society organizations (Civil Forum), etc.
The best municipal practices for SDG localization, innovative approaches and directions for improving the system for monitoring the achievement of goals, as well as sustainable development projects funded by the BRICS New Development Bank will be presented
