Summary

The implementation of the UN sustainable development goals requires cooperation between countries in the field of rational use of resources, including marine resources, and ensuring the health of marine ecosystems. The UN Decade of Ocean Sciences suggests using a marine spatial planning tool to achieve the set goals. This is not possible without close cooperation between coastal regions and countries. Marine spatial planning, integrated marine environmental management in different countries is at different stages of development. The purpose of the session is to exchange experience and strengthen cooperation between the coastal regions of Russia and neighboring countries, identify common interests and tasks in the development of marine areas, form interregional action programs and clusters, update the tasks of authorities, businesses, research organizations in the field of rational use of marine resources for the benefit of marine economy.
